Welcome to HALO Fundraising, founded by Marceena Friis.

WELCOME

Halo Fundraising has been created as a platform to raise money and champion PAPYRUS and other invaluable local charities in the West Midlands. In 2024 we are supporting Shakespeare Hospice in memory of Julie Samantha Hunt.

PAPYRUS, Charity for the Prevention of Young Suicide, is particularly close to our hearts. Marceena sadly lost her beautiful niece, Amber, to suicide. Marceena and her family know how worthy charities such as PAPYRUS are, she is passionate about giving back and in doing so raising awareness and fundraising for the work PAPYRUS do.

The Cody 23 Community Fund was created following the death of Cody Fisher who sadly lost his life to knife crime on 26th December 2022.

Hopefully, channelling some positive energy into fundraising and enabling some fun, laughter and glamour along the way will be a step toward healing the sadness and at the same time help others in the names of both Amber and Cody.

PAPYRUS

PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide is the UK charity dedicated to the prevention of suicide and the promotion of positive mental health and emotional wellbeing in young people. We believe that no young person should have the struggle alone with thoughts of suicide.

Papyrus exists to reduce the number of young people who take their own lives, by shattering the stigma surrounding suicide and equipping young people and their communities with the skills to recognise and respond to emotional distress.

THE SHAKESPEARE HOSPICE

Julie was diagnosed with cancer in May 2023 and she sadly passed away in August 2023, leaving behind her husband Pete and two beautiful children, Darcie and Rory. Julie’s family and sister Mel are forever grateful to the hospice for providing care and keeping Julie comfortable in her last days. Julie’s presence as Mum, wife, sister daughter and wonderful friend is missed terribly – we want to say a big thank you to the hospice on her behalf and raise a glass or two to this amazing lady who will forever be in our hearts.

The Shakespeare Hospice offers specialised care and support to patients, their loved ones and carers across South Warwickshire and the surrounding areas. It reaches beyond the Hospice walls providing expert support within local community and patients homes.

The Hospice offer a diverse range of community based services including Hospice at Home and Day hospice (Adult community care service) Adult counselling, Children’s and family support services, and Transitional Care services. This expert care is available to their patients and loved ones and those who matter the most to them.

THE HALO BALL

The ball will bring the untimely death of Amber Lee Friis and Julie Samantha Hunt as a united front to raise awareness for prevention of young suicide and celebrate the outstanding and much needed Shakespeare hospice in its 25th year anniversary. Halo fundraising will divide donations equally between both charities.
